At today's strike meeting, the strikers at the Rakvere Fleischakombinaadi slaughterhouse decided to continue with a work stoppage. The workers have agreed to end the strike if the employer agrees to sign a peace agreement, followed by meaningful collective bargaining.
The strike at the slaughterhouse has been going on for almost two months as the employer has not made any concrete wage offer to the strikers. The strikers believe that the current stalemate is no longer a way forward and are hoping that the employer will also accept their offer.
Under the proposed peace agreement, the parties would have to start meaningful collective bargaining and the employer would have to recognise the union as the workers' representative. The agreement also states that the parties have no claims on each other in relation to the strike.
The strikers thank all the organisations and people who supported them and the public for their sympathy and words of encouragement.
