The Alexela Group and the Estonian Trade Union Confederation have signed a cooperation agreement to become the official energy partner of Estonian trade unions.
According to Andreas Laane, Chairman of the Management Board of Alexela Group, Alexela has over the years cooperated primarily with transport unions, such as the Estonian Transport Trade Union (ETTA) and the Railwaymen's Trade Union. "According to the agreement signed today, the Alexela Group will become the official energy partner of the Estonian Trade Union Confederation, and from now on all members of the trade unions that are members of the confederation and have joined the single membership card system will receive fuel, electricity and natural gas on very good terms," said Andreas Laane.
According to Peep Peterson, chairman of the Estonian Confederation of Trade Unions (EAKL), the agreement covers more than twenty thousand trade union members. "We are certainly grateful to the Alexela Group for their long-term cooperation and we are pleased that a major Estonian company is interested in supporting the members of Estonian trade unions," said Peep Peterson.
The EAKL has a total of 18 branch trade unions, which bring together state and local government employees, academics, health workers, transport workers, industrial workers, journalists and people working in the service sector.
The Alexela Group is an Estonian-capital holding company that brings together companies that have been under common ownership for the last few decades into a single structure, the Alexela Group, as an umbrella organisation.
Alexela Group operates in three areas: energy, metals and real estate development. The Group employs more than 1500 people.
