Why should you belong to a trade union?

It pays to belong to a trade union because a trade union:

  • negotiates your salary and working conditions on your behalf
  • protects you against arbitrary action and discrimination by your employer
  • ensures you have a lawyer to help you in the event of a dispute or labour dispute
  • increases your job security

Trade union membership fees are usually 1% of your gross salary!

Trade unions in numbers:

  • There are 17 sectoral trade unions in Estonia
  • nearly 20 000 trade union members
  • more than 1000 disputes settled each year
