The International Labour Organisation (ILO) underlines in its 2024 Social Dialogue Report that the situation of labour rights in the world has deteriorated in recent years. Between 2015 and 2022, respect for the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining has decreased by 71%, mainly due to violations of the rights of employers and trade unions. It also highlights the problem that governments are not sufficiently effective in implementing agreements reached through social dialogue.<\/p>\n

The recommendation is to ensure that workers are free to join trade unions and to regularly monitor the impact of social dialogue to ensure the effectiveness of the measures implemented by the government. The ILO also stresses that social dialogue is key to the fair implementation of the digital and green revolution and to ensuring a balanced labour market.<\/p>\n

In the report, the ILO calls on countries to contribute more to strengthening labour rights and developing social dialogue.<\/p>\n
